Dagon

One of the fertility gods of the Philistines is Dagon. According to legend, Dagon climbed out of the seas and bred with a human woman. The woman gave birth to the Philistine race, and the Philistines believe themselves above all others.

Philistines would erect idols constantly to show their dedication to Dagon. In the Philistine capital of Gath, a passing traveler would see these idols at every turn. Among the idols, the smell of burning human sacrifices would be overwhelming. The giants of the Philistines were honored above all, and were believed to be proof that Dagon was the reigning god over all creation.

Though the Philistines will never admit it, only one pagan god has challenged the supposed strength of Dagon. The god of the Israelites. The god known as Yahweh.
